Toyota unveils all-new outdoor ROX at SEMA 2024

Together with its North American design studio, Toyota and Calty Design Research will soon reveal the ambitious concept vehicle “Recreation Open eXperience” (ROX).

Starting as a redesigned 2024 Land Cruiser, and manufactured in close collaboration with the Toyota Technical Centre, more than 50% of the vehicle was reinvented into a functional body that embodies the Land Cruiser’s heritage, resulting in a fully functional, one-off ‘factory’ vehicle.

The ROX is equipped with a custom independent suspension with a four-inch lift, with the track width increased by eight inches, widening the fenders and providing a greater impact area

ROX’s open-air cab is accessed via custom-made “skeleton” doors, and its custom front-to-back sliding soft top can be opened. A functional center gate allows passage from the cab to the truck bed to access the integrated tailgate seating and additional storage space.

Its exterior features a custom triple-bar integrated roof rack and sport bar with molle panels, with a custom jerry can next to the rear reserve holder for fluid storage, and custom high-lift front and rear steel bumpers for added protection.

Its interior features custom SLS Nylon 3D printed pieces, including front and rear door sills, and is trimmed in Heritage Orange leather

Each of the ROX’s corners also features widened fenders with massive tires mounted on custom Calty-designed 18-inch machined one-piece billet wheels.

The unique concept build will be on display at SEMA 2024 in Las Vegas, which will run from November 5, 2024 to November 8, 2024.
